Hip Hop Immortals
Motorola already boasted a history of being name-checked in a range of classic hip-hop tracks: our brief was to strengthen these ties. So we hooked up with the Hip Hop Immortals exhibition and created a comic that told the Motorola hip-hop story in a tongue-in-cheek style.
Written by ‘Tone Def’ and ‘Fiddy-P’ and illustrated by JAKe, the comic also featured a CD of iconic hip-hop tracks that featured Motorola. Prince Paul, Roots Manuva and Gza from the Wu-Tang Clan performed at exclusive VIP private views, with more than 16,000 people attending the exhibition. The comic was featured in Arena, Undercover, The Times, The Guardian, The Berliner, Welt am Sonntag, Nova magazine, Elle, Rolling Stone and Liberation, as well as being picked up by MTV, Trace TV, Radio 1Xtra and Kiss FM.
