Shadow Sculptures
“You can’t always judge athletes by the way you see them when they’re in action” Thierry Henry said of our campaign for Reebok’s new range of sports-and-casual clothing, BOBO (Best on, Best Off). Our sentiments exactly: we explored the private lives and possessions of key Reebok’s athletes and featured them in a series of shadow sculptures. The contents of each sculpture told the story of the athletes personal lives while the shadows they created when projected onto produced dynamic, signature silhouettes of their alternate sports persona.
Henry’s included basketball memorabilia reflecting his favourite sport outside football and Real Madrid goalie Iker Casillas’s sculpture included a copy of Notting Hill, sushi, classic novels, anti-racism literature, Hawaiian shirts and photographs of Scarlett Johansson. The sculptures were on show at a gallery in Barcelona and were recorded by more than 18 TV stations from around Europe.
