Motorola
The First Car Radio on the Moon
We were approached by Motorola to tell the story of its innovative history. We wanted to get away from the classic, slightly ‘fusty’ approach to telling company histories. By spending months sifting through archives we began pulling together a book of retro-cool images revealing a surprisingly hip heritage. From “bricks” to “flips”, to classic ads telling a timeline of innovation, a flick book of the moon landing (Motorola invented the car radio that carried Neil Armstrong’s immortal words), as well as a peek into possible future innovation.
Distributed to 70,000 employees on the 75th anniversary of the company, the book sparked a global TV ad and was featured in various style magazines including Vogue.
